Editorial: The Adult Industry In 2018: Pissed Off Camgirls & The State Of Free Porn

Porn is something that we’re all familiar with. I’m sure you all remember the little pseudo-factoid that the internet is 75% full of it, which sites like Pornhub have made a fortune from. Problem is, there’s a section of the industry that is very pissed about this and it’s your friendly neighborhood camgirl. You know, that girl that you were whacking off to just a few minutes before you decided to check The Grim Lord’s ramblings for the week? Her. That one. Every single one of them. Why? Because the AVN’s have finally allowed camgirls a say in the industry and even handed out some awards to them as of recent. They even have their own separate awards now, which I think is hosted by ManyVids (MV for short).

The problem is, these gals want their money. Can you blame them? Several of them have side jobs, children to take care of the whole nine yards. So that single porn-star that you were over here filling a bucket to, is a mom? It’s not uncommon, to be honest – but they don’t prefer to talk about it. For some, it kills the whole persona. You know how it’s every man’s fantasy to have that “young single woman just for me” sort of shtick, so I think involving kids and husbands would not be very good for their channels. Secondly, most of the porn you’re seeing on streaming sites like Pornhub is pirated porn, stolen porn. I know, that sounds ironic given that a lot of people never paid for the stuff before, but now given the independent options and customized works, they’re giving up a little more dough. People do like as I said, “just for me” scenarios and if they pay a bit extra, they can have them. I guess that works well enough for some. Problem is, this is getting heated between the camgirls and the streamer sites and if they had it their way, you wouldn’t be able to stream anything x-rated without a fee. Kind of sounds like the nineties, doesn’t it?

So who owns streamer sites like Pornhub and RedTube? Well, it’s funny you should ask – because the answer is still Mindgeek. Google them right now if you’re unaware, and you’ll find that they own most of the world’s porn industry. Yes, I said the world. So all of these camgirls basically want to band together and possibly bring litigation to the Walmart of pornographic material. Yes, I think they should get paid a little from these streams which could be worked out if anyone brought a stable enough case to court, but I strongly doubt anything like that will happen yet. As of right now, the girls just thank people who do buy their work and demonize those who don’t. Also, some seem to look down on amateur porn as I’ve noticed in tweets, which I think is very unsettling – after all, amateur porn is about as realistic as you can get. It’s not clean and classy, but it’s the expectation that one may have when actually doing the deed with a person of the opposite or same sex. While major porn stars supply the dream, amateurs supply the reality. You could see why the dream wants to belittle the reality of the situation.

Though this is not all that porn stars are concerned about in the modern era. They’re also deeply worried about the artificial sex industry and I had recently gotten into a lengthy argument about sex dolls and robots with one of my personal favorite stars in the industry, a camgirl legend in her own right. For integrity purposes, that name has been witheld, but I will say that through our debate (which she actually brought up, by the way – previously it was positive talk about the state of the industry and doing what makes one happy, that sort of thing) her talking points began to more or less demonize the artificial sex movement, considering it inferior as she named practices for the dolls that are slowly becoming nonexistent with technological advances, unable to compete with a regular human being (this depends of the person and their personal experiences – I mentioned people with developmental disabilities and those who lost their lover and would not want to replace them with another human being) and a dangerous tool to commit pedophilia. Oh yes, she brought up that same feminist talking point that pedophiles will use them to practice abusing children, and that abusive men will beat them up and sexually assault them, regardless of the fact that they are inanimate object that have to be moved by the user. She also told me that doll brothels were complaining of rape. I had to scratch my head at this one, because I was wondering if perhaps Charles Band and Puppet Master weren’t so far-fetched after all. Were the dolls calling in these rape allegations? But I’m not here to talk about sex dolls again, at least not completely. I also mentioned the advent of virtual reality sex, shich she claimed were just “games” and “she doesn’t play games.” Well, VR is absolutely not a game – there is no objective in some of the software, you just more or less have an experience and then take off the headset. It can’t really be won. If creating a virtual world for the observant to explore is considered making a game, then I suppose the community is guilty as charged. Even if there is a game atmosphere, these are still sexual experiences that will only become greater realized as the technology progresses. The same can be said with AR, but that is not being worked as much as one would think, and not currently for sexual purposes to my knowledge. In any case, some of these bigger stars do not want you to have a virtual, robotic or plastic girl. Makes sense, as any replacements equal a loss in money.

I honestly think that we’re about to get some sort of weird decriminalization on prostitution here in the west, but the women will control it as they have with their cam feeds, videos and picture galleries. If you pay them enough, you might get the works – but that could be thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions depending on the woman and how attractive she thinks you are. These prices are going to make The Bunny Ranch look like a weekend stay at Disneyland. But you know and I know, that some Saudi millionaire would probably pay a fortune for some of these American girls and I really do think that this is going to be an option. Right now, women very much control sex – they’re just not controlling the streaming part of the industry or the technological advancement portions, which are largely being crafted by men. Part of feminism in this age is going to require them to get that power back, so be prepared for a lot more of this to come in the future. I do feel that the next frontier of porn involves artificial experience and we’ll see the oldest profession in the world morph into something completely new and different over the next couple of decades. Simply, it’s going to be an interesting revelation, and I am ever curious to see it’s results.
