If you are discussing information with acts, promoters or venue owners that does involve possible gigging, do not do that with Facebook. Facebook is a place for friends and fuckery, not for business deals. Instead, you get the person’s phone number and you talk to them like a normal human being. If you invited an act to your show that you find you disapprove of, it is your fault when all you have to say is “I talked to them on Facebook.”
Okay. You could have been talking to a gorilla on Facebook. You could have been talking to a troll. You have no verification that the person you were talking to even IS the person you are talking to. We often give the benefit of the doubt, but let’s face it and realize that many people here that we think we know, we probably don’t. So if it is a business deal, if it does involve money or a live performance, pick up the goddamned phone and speak to people. If you can’t do that, then you need to find another line of work.
I can’t believe I am actually having to say this. People get off your goddamned phones and interact.
