Dikasterion – Chaos As A New World (2023)

Although short, these black metallers bring us a raw and purposeful execution in how black metal should sound. Kvltists who love the raw shit will definitely get on board with this outing as it doesn’t come off too polished, but has the right amount of kick and seething harsh vocals that go back to the days of early Bathory. However, what’s more is that if we keep listening, the guys go into sort of a mid-era Satyricon disco black metal groove, which has a similar level of production value and still manages to capture the atmosphere that many (including myself) loved from that album. The drumming is a huge part of this album, even though some of the guitars feel thrown to the back. We’ll forgive them for this though, as that’s the whole damn point of the raw production value they want to achieve here. The record isn’t all that long, but that shouldn’t upset any of you, since you’ll just hit the play button again. It’s honestly good to see that this classic style of black metal isn’t dead, along with a few extra grooves and ripping guitar solos. More, please!
