Editorial: Reasons Why The Grim Lord Is Entertaining The Idea Of Writing Furrie Porn & Why Journalism Is A Dying Industry In Current Year! (2019)

Let’s be honest, folks. I know nothing about furrie porn. I’ve never had a real interest in it. The idea of anthropomorphic animals never gelled with me the way that Monster Girls and android waifus did. Or the way that mutant experiments did, which I discovered like most of these fetishes – completely by accident. That being said, I recently posted a message on Raging Golden Eagle’s stream mentioning the fact that writing is no longer lucrative and filled with social justice drones, NPC’s or whatever you want to call them. I’d just read an article that to my surprise; mentioned that it wasn’t enough for Battle Angel Alita to have a diverse cast. It simply lacked Asian people. From what I’ve seen of the film, there are people of all walks of life in it. Yet, this fellow went on and on as I rolled my eyes and continued to read the piece. I was simply taken aback by the level of empty headedness coming from the article as if the man had a bone to pick regardless of whether or not he enjoyed the film. In fact, I would have wagered that he’d originally expected the film to fail and this article was going to be the cause of why it failed. If of course, that had been the case. So now the piece just seems silly and feels “fly by night” at best. It’s a timely time waster for people with an IQ level which matches that of potting soil.

Considering that this is what the opinions of more people than I am willing to admit have in my field; a commenter’s advice on Raging Golden Eagle’s thread caught my attention. “I’m a writer for erotic furrie porn and it has been very lucrative for me.” Silly as this may seem, he is not far off-base. In fact, I could probably make more money in my chosen field writing about furries, anime, film, television and book characters in the realms of erotic fanfiction than I could ever make in the general industry; especially right now. As I’ve said time and again, there’s not much money to be made in this business. People are getting their information from YouTube videos and they’re catching onto podcasts, despite them being readily available for a number of years prior. Even Dr. Phil has his own podcast called Phil In The Blanks, which means that large profile celebrities and talk show hosts are jumping onto the next big money trend. I’ve even seen album reviews on YouTube for dozens of metal albums. People like connecting with visual images and words, rather than reading a bunch of text on the printed page. This is also why so many books are becoming movies, I think – because a movie is a promotion for the book, rather than it being the other way around. That being said, there will always be a place for erotica fanfiction works that people are willing to pay for in the underground. There is no telling what kinds of debauchery have been posted regarding some of our favorite characters from entertainment history, but I’m quite sure that the going price for some of these is rather high. I’m also quite sure that commercial authors have used these erotic fanfiction pieces to fund their own books. It’s an odd occurrence, but sex sells and I’m sure that I’ve said that numerous times in these editorials.

There’s no doubt that the eBook market is exploding these days, but writers looking to submit pieces are often given the cold shoulder. Agents even have a series of automated responses to throw at submissions without having even looked at them. Even in my early days of publishing, I ent through sixty rejections before finding one that fucked me over quite royally. These days, I recommend Amazon Self-Publishing for new authors looking to get their work out there on a global market. Saying little more, in a world where there are so many voices, it is incredibly difficult to get yours heard. I think that people who are given a platform to speak should be very grateful that anyone cares to listen at all. I certainly thank the people who keep coming back day after day to check this site. I hope that you like the changes we’ve made and that you’ll still find content to enjoy here. I realize that we write entertainment. That’s our purpose, to entertain you and to promote the things we love (or loathe) with an honest opinion. So even if that doesn’t come with a price tag, it’s still something that we enjoy doing. So maybe I won’t jump on the furrie porn train just yet, but these kinds of offers do seem a bit enticing…Haha! – The Grim Lord
